Position SummaryThe Echocardiographer willperform diagnostic ultrasound evaluations of the heart using ‘MMode and 2 D imaging as well as pulse wave, continuous wave andcolor flow doppler. Will be able to identify the anatomy of theheart using ultrasound techniques. Under the immediate direction ofthe Lead Echo Tech , and within established hospital and departmentpolicies and procedures, operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
Duties include but are not limited to: #ZScans patients in allaspects of cardiac scanning including M-Mode, 2-D, color, Doppler,exercise testing and TEE.The Echocardiographer will prep forcardiac stress tests, Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE),contrast studies, and bubble studies.
Inform interpreting physicianif an abnormal finding and/or a hemodynamically significant changeis present from previous examination.
Enters patient demographics,verifies order to undertake exam, performs echo study based onpatients medical history.
Processes CDs as requested.
Trains othersin the use of and uses of the CPACS System.
Assists in schedulingpatients.
Interviews patients in order to obtain informationpertinent to exam.
The Echocardiographer will be able to maintainall paperwork for the Echo Department.
The Echocardiographer shouldhave or develop a good working knowledge of all the otherprocedures in the Cardiology Department for example EKG’s, Holterhookups and scanning.
Ability to interpret findings for preliminaryreporting.
Maintains echo equipment in good working condition andassures echo labs are clean; reports malfunctions of equipment tosupervisor as needed.
Participates in quality improventinitiatives.
Must be able and willing to wear lead protection whenneeded.
Assumes call responsibilities as needed.
Performs otherduties as assigned.
