Overview:

Works closely with the cardiologist to perform cardiacultrasound procedures at the technical level, contributing to theefficient operation of the department and promoting the philosophy,to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. Maintains thestandard of care delivered to infants, toddlers, preschool andschool age children, adolescents, adults andgeriatrics.

Qualifications:

Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures inaccordance with department standards and procedures.

Plans dailyschedules for inpatients and outpatients.

Performs examinations onER patients as requested.

Selects and operates appropriate equipmentfor each exam.

Prepares patients for examinations; explainsprocedures.

Records clinical history, BP’s, and technologistimpressions on CPACS/worksheets.

Works with Cardiologists andordering physicians to provide appropriate patient care.

Maintainsdaily logbook.

Follows appropriate protocols.

Adheres to all safetyprecautions including patient safety, infectious control, universalprecautions, and ergonomics.

Maintains or is actively pursuing ARDMSor RCS registration; remains current regarding developing trends infield of cardiac ultrasound.

Maintains clean, neat and orderly workarea; maintains appropriate supply levels.

Assists with maintenanceon equipment.

Reports problems.

Demonstrates cross-sectional anatomyand pathology on routine procedures.

Performs other duties asassigned. Is authorized to access contrast media ifregistered.

Education, Experience, and/or Other RequirementsMust beARDMS or RCS registered or be actively pursuing registration. Oneyear of clinical experience in a progressive Ultrasound Departmentor Ultrasound Training Program that meets with the ARDMSrequirements for registry eligibility is required. Prefer previousexperience as a Registered ARRT Technologist. Must have a validdriver’s license in order to drive to outreach sites and screeningevents. Must be CPR certified.

Environmental FactorsThis position isperformed within an environment of daily exposure to hazardous orpotentially injurious elements or conditions.

Good eye/hand coordination, good vision andhearing.

Ability to reach different table levels for scanningpurposes.

Ability to assist average sized person (150 pounds) to andfrom x-ray table, etc., in normal course of work. Upon occasionmust be able to support average person for approximately twominutes.

While performing the duties of the job the employee isregularly required to stand for 30-minute intervals for 70% of theday.

The employee will frequently be required to lift, push and pullat least 5 to 50 pounds.

Ability to attend to visual details.

Abilityto make precise arm/hand positions movements where strength andspeed are minimized.

Ability to communicate orally and inwriting.

Ability to receive and comprehend written and oralcommunications.
