Job Description
EEG Technician Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport 1541 Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71103 This job conducts and prepares patients for routine Electroneurodiagnostic (END) procedures, including EEG, Evoked Potentials, and specialized studies in the clinical setting. Collects data pertinent to the interpretation of test results and assists medical staff with complex recordings. - Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent Preferred
- Associate’s degree or completion of an END Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or completion of a Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) Program accredited by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) Work Experience Required
- Clinical experience equivalent to 3 or more years training in the field Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Preferred
- Eligible for Certification in Neurodiagnostic Technology Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to set priorities and work efficiently under pressure. Must be able to work flexible schedule, such as nights, weekends, extended shifts, etc. Job Duties Gathers appropriate information from the patient, patient’s records, and family members, as well as other neurological symptoms and medications to writes an accurate comprehensive patient history. Recognizes patient or environmental artifacts and documents, eliminates or takes proper measures to monitor the artifact. Ensures patient safety always by taking appropriate action during patient emergency situations. Interacts with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the clinical staff and explains test procedures to the patient and family members present. Practices basic infection control procedures relating to patient and equipment including electrodes. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
