•Minimum of 1 year of experience incardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred•Ability toprovide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours

Description:

Provides specialized cardiovascular care whilemaintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. Performs andreviews a baseline patient assessment and evaluates patientresponse to diagnostic cardiac procedures. Is proficient in theoperation and maintenance of all diagnostic and therapeuticequipment used for procedures in the specific area of operation asspecified by the manufacturer. Performs accurate and thoroughechocardiograms as ordered by the physician. Performs specializedtesting using computer-assisted devices, including but not limitedto TEE, Stress Echo, and Pharmacological Stress Echo. Iscross-trained to perform EKGs, Treadmills, and Holter monitors asneeded. Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper functionand calibration of machines. Maintains a high skill level throughparticipation in CQI, in-services, ongoing education, andattendance at 80% of staff meetings. Recognizes and promptly actsupon unusual results or patient responses by informing the primaryhealth care team to ensure patient safety and foster optimaloutcomes. Must be able to deal with various personality types,ages, and levels of consciousness of patients. Adjusts approachbased on patient and family level of understanding of testprocedures. Promptly troubleshoots and corrects recordinginstrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interferewith recordings. Independently prioritizes clinical andadministrative work and identifies process improvements. Processespatient and department records, ensuring documentation of performedtests in accordance with hospital standards. Floating may berequired to any location within sixty (60) miles of the originalassignment location or identified float zone. Float assignments mayinclude duties outside of original assignment job requirements inaccordance with policy.

Education:

High School Diploma/G.E.D.required. Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureateacademic program in health science or a programmatically accreditedprogram in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) stronglypreferred.
