This job providesindividualized, direct patient care of assigned patients byperforming a variety of sonographic procedures and/or tests, notlimited to electrocardiograms and associated stress tests,echocardiograms to include 2D/M Mode, Doppler and Color Flowimaging, Exercise Stress Echo and Dobutamine Stress Echo. Compileshistory and diagnostic information from the examination, andpresenting the preliminary sonographic findings. Provides thehighest quality personalized patient care and maintains a positivework relationship with the health care team. To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily. - High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience Required
- None. Preferred
- 1 year of experiencein cardiac ultrasound. Certifications Required
- Active RDCSregistry through ARDMS Credentialing Agency or RCS registry throughCCI Credentialing Agency within 6 months of completing the required12 month clinical experience period. Basic Life Support (BLS) fromthe American Heart Association. Knowledge Skills and Abilities(KSAs)
- General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, andthe hemodynamics of blood flow in relation to the various diseasestates.
- Ability to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusionbased on nationally published criteria.
- Ability to assistattending physicians with interventional procedures requiringultrasonic guidance.
- Ability to provide care and/or supportservices in a manner consistent with the patient’s age, social,spiritual, and cultural needs and other special consideration.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-basedapplications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skillsand ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently andcalmly under pressure.
- Ability to work with and maintain strictconfidentiality.
- Ability to be self-directed and function withoutdirect supervision.
- Ability and willingness to have and maintainflexibility in work duties and hours (may require flexible schedulesuch as nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts,etc.). Job Duties

The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in anarea where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/orworks with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.
There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicablediseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting,there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardousmedications or hazardous waste within the environment throughreceipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing,administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
