This job is anAllied health specialty for diagnosing patients with neurologicaldisorders. Under direct supervision of the laboratory supervisor,prepares patients for and conducts neurological testing proceduresto obtain data for use in the diagnosis of clinical disorders ofthe nervous system in at least one of the following modalities,Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Long-TermMonitoring (CLTM), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), TranscranialDoppler (TCD), and Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM). Analyzesand summarizes results. Conforms to all laboratory policies andprocedures regarding The Occupational Safety and HealthAdministration (OSHA) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation ofHealthcare Organizations (JCAHO) guidelines for universalprecautions and hospital regulations. Education Required
- Highschool diploma or equivalent. Preferred
- Associate degree. WorkExperience Required

- 2 years of relatedexperience. Certifications Required
- BLS certification Preferred
- R.NCS.T, R.EEG.T, R.EP.T, RVS, RCS, CLTM, or CNIM Knowledge Skillsand Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of basic infection controlstandards relating to patient and equipment, includingelectrodes/probes.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, andweb-based applications.
- Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills and ability to present information clearly andprofessionally.
- Ability to build and maintain good rapport withpatient and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and professional underpressure.
- Ability to work effectively through changingpriorities.
- Ability to work flexible schedule (extended shifts,nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.). Job Duties
- Performsthe duties outlined for Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (END)under supervision.
- Accurately takes and documents pertinenthistory from the patient or chart.
- Sets-up patients forappropriate study, EEG, EP, NCS, TCD or IOM.
- Measures/marks andaccurately applies recording electrodes according to theInternational 10-20 Electrode placement system.
- Performsdiagnostic studies with appropriate documentation and observationof the patient.
- Troubleshoots equipment and physiologicalartifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal and usingappropriate resources to perform study.
- Performs basic infectioncontrol standards relating to patient and equipment, includingelectrodes/probes.
- Maintains professional development, clinicalknowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
- Adaptsbehavior to the specific patient population, including but notlimited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to thepatient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
