JobSummary:
Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiacstructures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols.
If this position performs both adult and pediatric echosonography,both Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) withPediatric Echocardiography (PE) Specialty and Registered DiagnosticCardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echocardiography (AE)Specialty are required or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer(RCCS)
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) andRegistered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- Cardiovascular CredentialingInternational (CCI).
If only performing one area of echosonography(either adult or pediatric), then only the correspondingcertification would be required along with 4 years of experience.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms appropriate diagnostic procedures, records patient testresults and reports results. Monitors patient comfort and safetyduring tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes inpatient responses. Maintains adequate supplies and verifies allequipment is in proper working condition; reports deficiencies andfailures. Positions patients and selects anatomic and technicalparameters accurately. Ensures all activities comply withregulatory agency standards. Ensures prompt submission ofhigh-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (imagequality, correct lead markers and patient data/history). Assists inmaintaining a clean and orderly department to include procedurerooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and anyother areas in department. Works in a constant state of alertnessand safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATIONCompletion of an Echosonography program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant standing and walking.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent use of hearingand speech to share information through oral communication.
Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hearalarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent lifting/carryingand pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequentlifting/moving of patients. Frequent reaching, gripping andkeyboard use/data entry. Occasional lifting/carrying andpushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional use ofvision to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional bending,stooping, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/armmovements. Rare kneeling and sitting.
