POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality Echo procedures to ourpatients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner whileproviding those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITIONREQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

Earned adegree/certificate from an accredited Echocardiography program.

Must be registered or registry eligible in Echocardiography.

Proficient in performing TEE studies, stress echo studies, and useof contrast. BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

WorkplaceExperience:

Preference of at least two years of work experienceafter graduation.

Equipment and Skills Training:

Will train onspecific equipment and processes in Echo at Williamson Health.

Physical Environment:

Multimodality imaging department thatprovides Echocardiograms. Works with cardiologists during TEE’s andCardioversions.

Physical Effort:

Possesses the ability to performmultifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operateequipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs tostretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicateclearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgmentdecisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrateemotional stability and psychological health in day-to-dayinteraction with fellow employees, patients, their families, andphysicians. Must be willing to take call for STAT, Urgent, andRoutine studies after hours and on weekends and must be availablewithin 30 minutes for STAT Procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Checkspatient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy ofrequest before proceeding with study. Recognizes abnormal studiesand reports appropriately. Understands proper use of Definity.

Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtimeperiods and always makes good use of time. Correctly recordspreliminary calculations and post measurements and findings. AssistCardiologists during TEE’s and Cardioversions. Shows leadership andteamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.

Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed. Performs highquality studies consistently and follows pre-determined standards(protocols) and procedures for all echocardiography studies.

Communicates and follows through with fellow employees to ensurethat all requests from physicians and patients are completed.

Willing to provide portable studies for patients when it is in thebest interest of the patient as deemed necessary by the patient’snurse or nursing supervisor. Utilizes knowledge of anatomy anddisease processes to accurately communicate patient pathology toCardiologist. Responds in a timely manner when on call.
