GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of an EMT Paramedic or EMS Shift Supervisor, performs responsible paraprofessional medical work in both the emergency and routine treatment of sickness and accident victims. Work is usually performed under extreme pressure and duress. Performs other work as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, supplemented by completion of an approved Advanced Emergency Medical Technician course, or completed the Louisiana approved transition process from EMT Intermediate to an Advanced
EMT. SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician Advanced by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and certification by Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
