Description Summary:

The Emergency Medical Technician EMS isresponsible for administering appropriate emergency medicaltreatment to people who have been injured in accidents or haveother medical conditions, and assists in rendering advancedemergency medical treatment. Ability to operate an advanced lifesupport ambulance to administer care. Routinely assists with theinspection of the ambulance and related equipment to ensure properoperation and sanitary cleanliness.

Responsibilities:
  • Responds tothe site of life-threatening situations, emergency medicalsituations and non-emergency calls.
  • Assists in coordinatingresponse activities with physicians to develop a plan of care basedupon the assessment of the patient.
  • Assists in leading a team ofresponders by coordinating activities to conduct triage, developtreatment plans, administer medical care and prepare p a t I e n tfor transport to medical facility.
  • Insures the proper functioningof all emergency medical equipment and vehicles through regularchecks; makes sure there is an adequate inventory supply maintainedaboard emergency vehicles through regular checks.
  • Assists in thecleaning of station location.
  • Interacts with firefighters, lawenforcement and other non-medical personnel at emergency scenes.
  • Performs related administrative tasks and all detaileddocumentation in compliance with Federal, State, and localregulations.
  • Handles hazardous materials, and ensures appropriatedisposal in hazardous materials containers.
  • Ensures compliance toall OSHA regulations for Infection Control, Hazardous MaterialsStandards, and all job duties.
  • Responds to multiple casualtyincidents and disasters and assists in providing appropriatemedical oversight, triage, care, and transport in coordination withother responders.
  • Participates in periodic in-service training,or on an as needed basis, for any certified and non-certifiedupdates relating to Emergency Medical Services and federal, State,and local EMT-B requirements.
  • Operates and utilizes an ambulanceand related medical care response equipment and tools needed inresponse situations.
  • Makes decisions that conform to the norms,policies, and values of Champion EMS and adhere to federal, state,and local compliance and policy requirements.
