R-68785 Job Summary Geisinger is proud to offera per diem ED Technician II market leading pay rates, up to $3shift differentials for evening, nights and weekend shifts and upto $40,000 in financial support to become an RN. Job Duties

  • Performs basic patient care under supervision of the RegisteredNurse and maintains the patient care and unit environmentconsistent with the policies, procedures and practices. Meets thequalifications to provide care for patients in the specific agerange on their assigned clinical area. Promotes a caring andhealing environment for patient-centered care.
  • Triages patientcare by identifying, observing and documenting the physical needsof the
  • patient and families. Reports changes in patient conditionto Registered Nurse.
  • Assists patient care staff by performing thefollowing procedures: Phlebotomy, wound care and splinting, EKG’s
  • Performs venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain bloodspecimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Instituteguidelines.
  • Provides patient care that may relate torehabilitation to carry out multidisciplinary care plan for eachpatient.
  • Provides unit desk clerk functions when needed.
  • Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens in accordance withpolicy and procedure,
  • according to physician order.
  • Uses twopatient identifiers with proper labeling.
  • Blood glucosemonitoring.
  • Assist with transporting patients into and out of thedepartment to other areas of the hospital for tests.
  • Willtransport medications to and from pharmacy and within the unitalong with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank.
  • Provides:

    safety and suicide monitoring.

  • Assists patients withdaily activities including undressing and dressing as well aslifting and
  • positioning them to complete certain procedures.
  • Staff have access to non-controlled medications storage and supplyareas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary tomeet the needs of the clinic and unit.
  • Coordinate relationsbetween care providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Promotes a caringand healing environment for patient-centered care.
