Endoscopy Tech Who We Are:
As a part of SNHMCSurgical Services, the Endoscopy unit has multiple procedure roomswhere staff perform between 12-28 outpatient (80%) and inpatient(20%) procedures per day. Procedures include GI, pulmonology, andoutpatient bone marrow biopsies, with most patients receivinganesthesia. The team works flexible shifts and take call shifts toprovide care on an emergent basis to our community. About the
Job:
As a member of the Patient Care Services team, the EndoscopyProcedural Technician will successfully complete a competency-basedorientation program to become proficient in serving the inpatientand outpatient population requiring endoscopy procedures. Tofunction as an integral member of the endoscopy team by performinga variety of duties which assist the endoscopist in carrying out asafe endoscopy procedure with optimal results for the patient. TheEndoscopy Procedural Technician works under the direction of thecirculating RN, Resource Nurse, and unit managers. What You’ll Do
- Responsible to assist with the room turnover.
- Maintainappropriate levels of inventory and routine care.
- Reprocessing,and maintenance of endoscopic equipment according to standards ofinfection control, unit, and organizational policies/procedures,and manufacturers’ instructions
Who You Are:
- High School Diplomarequired or equivalent.
- LNA or NH Medical Technologistregistration completion preferred on hire or required within 30days of hire.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate or completionpreferred on hire or required within 30 days of hire.
- Certification as Central Services Endoscopy Technician preferredbut not required.
- Prior Endoscopy Procedural Technician orSterile Processing experience preferred.
- Some medical terminologyand technical terminology required.
- Ability to achieve thefollowing unit-specific competencies:
- Within 30 days:
- Endoscopeequipment reprocessing/disinfection.
- Familiarity with digestivetract, disease processes and related endoscopy procedures.
- Within90 days:
- Familiarity with tools and equipment necessary to assistin endoscopy procedures.
- Materials management
- Within 180 days
- Maintain and troubleshoot endoscopy/procedural equipment.
- Competent to assist in technical role with Emergent and complexprocedures (i.e. ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, etc.)
- Within 1
Year:
- Proficient in routine GI procedures
- Proficient in technical rolefor Emergent and complex procedures (i.
e. ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS,etc.)
