Job Summary:
  • Under direct supervision of the provider,nursing leadership and /or a Registered Nurse (RN), performs avariety of nursing care functions within all aspects of Endoscopy.
  • Will implement appropriate actions as assigned to provide supportand comfort to the patient’s needs, observes the patient andcommunicate pertinent data to the RN .
  • Performs technical patientcare services under supervision of nursing leadership and a RN orthe Charge RN.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assistsphysicians and RN with endoscopic procedures.
  • Assists with pre/intra / post endoscopic care of the patient including monitoringvital signs as necessary and as directed by the RN.
  • Makes beds,cleans rooms, and serves as a runner for equipment duringprocedures and for transport of patients as necessary.
  • Properlypositions patient pre and intra procedure.
  • Selects correctendoProduct and performs quality control check preprocedure toinclude air, water and white balancing.
  • Enters patient andprocedure information into endoscopy report writing softwarepreprocedure and intra procedure as necessary.
  • Handles andmanages procedure accessory equipment to include, but not limitedto endoscopic forceps, polyp snares, endoscopic clips, retrievalnets/ graspers, heater probes and specimen collection containers.
  • Supports airway via head positioning and performs oropharyngealsuctioning.
  • Provides abdominal pressure as guided by provider.
  • Collects specimen and labels specimens with accuracy.
  • Performsimmediate post procedure endoProduct precleaning.
  • Knows how toset up for, assemble / disassemble accessories for numeroustechnical procedures.
  • Troubleshoots problems with endoProductsand necessary support equipment including suction, CO2 pumps andwater pumps.
  • Assembles and disassembles endoscopic instruments,accessories and related equipment.
  • Cleans and processes equipmentafter procedures, including testing for leaks and othertroubleshooting.
  • Performs high level disinfection of endoProductsand accessories.
  • Assists with other duties or projects asassigned.
