Responsibilities The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the care of equipment within the lab assisting the nursing staff in delivery of safe patient care as well as assisting the physician during procedures. He / she follows specific departmental / hospital guidelines in coordination with company’s IFU for the cleaning disinfection and/ or sterilization of endoscopes and accessories. Takes call as assigned to provide twenty-four hour seven days a week coverage for the GI Lab. 1. Prepares room for procedure. 2. Communicates with patient nurse and physician to determine which supplies and equipment are needed for the individual procedure and has these available. 3. Assists in preparing and positioning patient for procedure and assist the proceduralist during the procedure. 4. Maintains aseptic or clean techniques for self and team as appropriate. 5. Responsible for cleaning and stocking rooms. 6. Demonstrates knowledge of proper cleaning disinfecting sterilizing and/or disposing of equipment and accessories as indicated. 7. Accepts responsibility for care and minor maintenance of equipment and accessories. 8. Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. SGNA certification required within 6 months of hire or certified surgical technologist. AHA BLS
