Parkwest Surgery is a growing cutting edge facility. The latest expansion will total 30 surgery suites. Specialties include orthopedics, cardio-vascular, robotics, gyn and urology services. Parkwest surgery is a fast paced, exciting environment. We encourage our staff through educational opportunities such as specializing in a particular service or advancing their practice. Parkwest surgery and leadership also offers students the ability to receive clinical hours for surgical scrub techs, nurses, physicians assistants and medical students.

Position Summary:

Provides supportive para-nursing functions in OR, SPD, and PACU which includes the operation and maintenance of equipment utilized for surgical procedures. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and calibration of surgical equipment.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates knowledge of sterile field. Illustrates proper technique for transporting and positioning patients safely. Displays understanding of proper body mechanics. Demonstrate special or bed positions. Coordinates the anticipated equipment needs for surgical cases. Demonstrates a high understanding of surgery equipment, radiology equipment, and IT systems. Maintains, cleans, and stocks scrub areas to include sterilizers. Coordinates equipment supplies inventory, anticipating future needs. Functions as a liaison with vendors and manufactures to coordinate equipment repairs. Operates laser for surgical procedures when needed. Demonstrates understanding of safety measures when using laser. Problem solves and assists with the coordination of laser/video equipment. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

One (1) year of surgery or related experience
