Job Summary:
Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and directing exercise and activity programs to effect improvement in the physical, mental and social well-being of pediatric patients in the Brenner FIT Program. Overall goals are to increase the activity level of children and families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Exercise Science, Health and Exercise Science, or Health Promotion.
What You’ll Do:
Coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all exercise and activity classes for the Brenner FIT program. Conducts group and individual exercises and activities according to patients’ needs, capabilities and interests. Provides activities in a family-friendly and educational manner so patient and family learn the exercises and activities to implement in the home setting. Counsels and instructs patients/families and medical professionals involved with the patients exercise prescription, monitors patient progress and goals, and ensures that Brenner FIT recommendations are followed. Directs the development of computerized methods for monitoring and reporting patient progress within REDCap database. Supports staff members in creating reports and analyzing data received. Assists in the development of on going monitoring and teaching tools. Works with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in community education and represents Brenner FIT internship program to all related college programs and organizations. Creates reports and analysis of data to track media events, community events and academic presentations. Supports staff members in creating reports and analyzing data received. Ensures that all documentation for activity reports, database and documentations are correct and done in a timely manner. Participates in the education and coordinates the activities of undergraduate, graduate, medical students, and other medical professionals (pediatric residents, subspecialty fellows) and their rotations. Manages the recruitment and hiring/selection of interns for the Brenner FIT program. Provides direction for interns, orienting them to Brenner FIT. Schedules and coordinates training sessions for project personnel. Oversees the work of interns with the Brenner FIT program and maintains communication with their direct supervisors. Oversees the recruitment and onboarding process for all volunteers with Brenner FIT. Trains volunteers for program requirements, manages volunteer schedules and documents all volunteer hours. Provides qualified volunteers to insure effective operation. Designs forms, web pages, and other tools to increase educational resources for community and clinic families. Performs other activities as directed by the Brenner FIT Program Director.
