First Shift Pennybyrn has an opportunity for a Wellness Coordinator to join our innovative, inclusive, and compassionate life-enriching community! The Wellness Coordinator primarily works with the Independent Living population of Seniors. This position is responsible for teaching exercise classes (including general land, yoga, and water-based classes), training individuals in the fitness center, planning special wellness events, and working one-on-one with individual residents or staff within a variety of fitness levels. This position will also assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of current and new wellness programs for the Pennybyrn Community. Ideal candidate will be a high energy, self-motivated, outgoing person with the knowledge and experience to instruct group fitness and aerobic classes to Senior adults. Responsibilities will include leading group exercise, instructing and advising Seniors in age appropriate use of fitness center equipment, and development of fitness goals. This position also works with the Wellness Coordinator for all day-to-day department needs. Candidates must have training and relevant experience in group exercise class instruction. Candidates with Aquatics and Yoga experience, and group exercise certifications take precedence. Hours for this position are generally 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Evening, weekend, and holiday events will be required as needed. This position will work 37.5-40 hours per week. Candidates must have a College degree or certification in exercise instruction, with a strong knowledge of age-appropriate exercises for older adults and knowledge of how to adapt classes to meet those needs. Candidates also must be certified in CPR/AED use or able to receive certification immediately. Why work with us?
