Job Description
Mental Health Screener Mental Health Association in Indian River County 820 37th Place, Vero Beach, FL 32960 Reports to:
Chief Clinical Officer Exemption Status:
Full Time, Exempt Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling and be registered with the state or able to register with the state to work towards licensure. Must have strong verbal and written skills, crisis intervention skills, and previous experience working in the behavioral health field. Be able to prepare reports and complete paperwork based on the clinical assessment.
Responsibilities to include:
- Conducts mental health screenings, including suicide and violence risk assessments, safety plans, and crisis intervention services, as required.
- Ensure telephone follow-up for screenings is completed and documented.
- Complete all needed documentation for walk-in clients for crisis management or consultation including individual (or family) therapy progress notes. Communicates results of walk-in visit with assigned therapist or psychiatrist if existing client.
- If assigned case(s) as primary therapist, complete diagnostic assessment on assigned cases to review history, establish diagnosis and determine course of care. Provide individual and family therapy to assigned clients. Work with clients to prepare and implement a treatment plan and review/update established treatment plans as needed.
- Completes all documentation timely according to agency policy and procedure.
- Complete required clinical forms and data collection by regulating bodies, funders, and/or the MHA.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
- Ensures all agency trainings are completed annually.
- Complete all necessary continuing education requirements to obtain/maintain clinical licensure and credentials.
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Work cooperatively and collaborate with other clinical, administrative, and support staff to provide quality clinical services.
- Serve as a liaison to community agencies on behalf of the MHA, as required.
- Perform other duties as requested by their designated supervisor.
