School Based Mental Health Liaison program today! The Bradley,McMinn, Meigs, & Rhea Co. School Based Mental Health Liaison TheSchool Based Mental Health Liaison (SBMHL) program provides directmental health services in the rural county school system. Liaisonswill provide individual consultation to teachers and assist them instructuring classrooms to enhance the learning environment forchildren whose risk of developing an emotional, behavioral, orsubstance abuse problem is significantly higher than average orchildren who have minimal but detectable signs or symptomsforeshadowing a disorder. Liaisons will provide training andeducation to teachers, school staff, and students to promotehealthy learning environments. Liaisons will work closely withfamilies and assist in the development of Individualized EducationPlans (IEP). Liaisons will also provide direct services toidentified students. Demonstrated knowledge and competency inmental health service provision and leadership. 1. Provides allservices to insure successful implementation of Department ofMental Health and Substance Abuse Services grant. Conductsindividual, family, and group counseling. Provides advocacy,linkage, and referral services as needed. Provides mental healthassessments and evaluations. Participates in IEP and other schoolrelated meetings. Provides parent, school or school staff training.
Interfaces professionally with school personnel and other agenciesConducts group sessions with children and/or parents. Interfacesprofessionally with school personnel and provides therapeuticsupport. 2. Maintain HRMC and CARF documentation standardsMaintains appropriate chart records that reflect both HRMC and CARFstandards. Completes all documentation in a timely manner. Upholdscenter policy and procedures, and CARF standards. Maintainsadequate record keeping ensuring all grant reporting requirementsare met in a timely manner. 3. Meet all productivity standardsMaintain active caseload of individual therapy clients. Completesassessments within two weeks once all paperwork is completed forschool-based services. 4. Demonstrate and maintain a positive workclimate and overall team effort. Demonstrate consideration andconcern for fellow co-workers and their job responsibilities.
Promote harmonious relationships by openly communicating anyconcerns, keeping a positive attitude and helping others. Acceptingadditional assignments and responsibilities with a positiveattitude.
COMPENSATION
Starting salary for this position isapproximately $49,273 /yr based on relevant experience andeducation.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8am -5pm
Travel :
Potentialtravel required to family homes to provide therapy services or meetfamilies out in the community.
Equipment/Technology :
Basiccomputer skills are required for email, timekeeping, anddocumentation in the electronic medical record.

School Based Mental HealthLiaison Education:
Must have a Master’s Degree in a human servicesfield such as counselor or social work. Experience /
Knowledge :
Must have a Master’s Degree in a human services field such ascounselor or social work. Must have two (2) years’ experienceworking with children with emotional or behavioral problems, or two(2) years of experience with adolescent substance use/abuseprevention, or a combination of the two. Applicants should haveexperience leading groups and trainings. In addition, applicantsshould have course work in the areas of cultural diversity, humandevelopment, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol anddrug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, trauma, suicide and learningdisorders. This person will either possess experience or trainingin the Re-Education Philosophy or will acquire such training in thecourse of employment. Licensed or licensed eligible. Ability toeffectively and ethically counsel children and families. Ability topresent professionally and work within a team format to plan,implement, and evaluate successful interventions. Ability toeffectively run and process groups with children and families.
Ability to work within a team format to meet positive goals forchildren and interface with other agencies involved in the ecologyof the family. Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgmentunder pressure. Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectivedecision-making, ability to set and demonstrate appropriateboundaries, ability to be an empathic listener, flexibility,willingness, and adaptability to working with diverse populations.
Must also have the ability to communicate effectively and possessgood time management and organizational skills.
Physical:
Exposureto biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Close eyework. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Frequentsitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping may be required.
Computer work involving frequent usage of hands, fingers, andwrists. This position requires certification in and adequateimplementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques thatinclude a wide range of bodily movements including but not limitedto grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running,and walking. This position requires becoming certified in CPR.
