JOB PURPOSE
To provide trauma-focused therapy to children and teens
JOB SUMMARY
Provides therapeutic intervention to child and teen victims of sexual abuse, serious physical abuse, and trafficking to reduce the emotional trauma to child victims and facilitate the healing process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Provide counseling services and case coordination. + Provide crisis intervention and crisis counseling to child victims. + Provide assessments and on-going counseling to victims of child abuse, serious physical abuse and trafficking. + Plan and implement treatment and support groups for children. + Serve as a liaison for clients to other community resources as appropriate. + Respond to subpoenas and provide court testimony when requested on relevant cases. + Abide by the Code of Ethics of the clinician’s profession. + Maintain appropriate case documentation and client files. + Write and submit required documents and reports. + Develop and maintain counseling skills by attending ongoing training. + Attend required weekly clinical staff meetings. + Attend MDT case review meetings with
ESMS CAC.
+ Collect referral/case demographic information from caregivers and referring agencies. + Record required case information in database. + Assembles parent resource packets with pertinent information regarding therapy. + Assists with providing in-services to community agencies regarding Trauma-Informed as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program with at least two years of social work or counseling experience. + Experience providing therapy to children required. + Diagnostic ability and working knowledge of child physical and sexual abuse and their impact on children and families. + Knowledge of child development stages and demonstrated ability to utilize this knowledge; ability to communicate with a wide range of children and families from different cultural backgrounds; familiarity with child protection laws, investigative and judicial procedures; working knowledge of family violence dynamics and alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on children and families. + Experience with trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy preferred.
