Fee for Service Therapist – Therapist Karen Horney Clinic New York, NY 10065 • Hybrid work The Karen Horney Clinic is pleased to offer a fee for service psychotherapist position. We are seeking psychologists, social workers and mental health counselors interested in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. At this time we are offering telehealth (phone and video sessions). When the clinic resumes after the coronavirus quarantine sessions will be conducted on site at the clinic. The Karen Horney Clinic’s mission is to offer low-cost psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic services to individuals from all backgrounds and to provide training and opportunities for advanced mental health professionals. Clinical Experience The Clinic serves a wide range of patients in terms of demographics and diagnosis. This is primarily an adult-orientated program; however opportunities for child and adolescent work may be available. Each psychotherapy session is 45 minutes in length and patients are seen at least once per week. Therapists are expected to have a minimum of 15 sessions scheduled per week. The Clinic is open Monday – Friday 9am – 9pm and fellows can generally schedule patients at their convenience. However, one evening until 9pm per week is required. Didactics and Supervision Beyond required weekly individual supervision, we also offer the option of joining various free to enroll learning opportunities, such as group supervision, case seminar, dream class, diagnosis class, Horneyian Psychodynamic Psychotherapy class, and trauma class. Therapists who choose to complete all courses will be awarded a certificate in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the conclusion of 2-years. At this time supervision and didactics are taking place via phone and video until the coronavirus quarantine has ended.
