Job Description
Under the supervision of the School Therapy Manager and clinical practice guidance of the psychiatrist, the school clinical counselor provides assessment, counseling, education, and safety planning for all patients consulted. The counselor works in collaboration with the clinical team and school team to meet the behavioral health needs of the patient. This position identifies treatment needs and risk factors that the patient may experience, and applies interventions and skill building techniques.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or related degree. Licensed as Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Counselor – Independent. Three years post graduate professional social work experience. MSW licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners. LPC under South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage Family Therapists. Requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Demonstrates ability to collaborate in a positive, professional manner with medical professionals. Requires ability to work in a thorough but efficient manner.
