The mission of Magic City Wellness Center at Hanover is to provide residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient care for individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through compassionate, comprehensive mental health services within an LGBTQ affirming environment. Job Purpose The Recovery Coach provides guidance and support to the individual with an eating disorder and, related mental health issues through the recovery process. The Recovery Coach helps clients pursue their personal goals, supports clients as they perform daily activities, and self-care tasks as well as life management activities. Clients may include adolescents (12-17 years old), young adults (18-25 years old) and adults (26+ years old). Duties and Responsibilities Assist in integrating and supporting the clients through their recovery journey. Provide support and intervention consistent with the client’s treatment plan. Engage clients in developing healthy and appropriate connections with other clients in the milieu and the team. Assist in food prep and set up; model and supervise client meals and snacks. Engage with therapeutic groups and developing core skills to promote clinical growth. Conduct rounds and provide observations. Offer encouragement, hope, and mentorship to help clients develop a recovery plan. Promote self-advocacy and help clients have their voices heard. Provide crisis intervention and outreach to encourage clients to pursue recovery. Encourage client to share accomplishments. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, guests, the general public, associates, supervisors, providers, and staff. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards clients always. When client needs are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve complaints. Recognizing that patient safety is a top priority. Occasionally, drive clients off-site for appointments and activities. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, required. At least 2 years post-high school education; Bachelor’s in Psychology, preferred At least one year of experience in a mental or behavioral health setting is highly desired. Maintains up-to-date, applicable State of Alabama and/or National licenses or certifications. Knowledge and/or experience working with the LGBTQ community, preferred. Physical and Mental Requirements Must be able to move throughout the clinic property during shifts. Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Other Requirements Obtain Crisis Prevention certification (CPI) within 90 days of hire. Obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire. Obtain ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire. Must possess valid government ID. Must have reliable transportation. Proficient in computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate positive interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.
