Summary As a Wellness Coordinator at the Greater Waterbury YMCA, you will play a vital role in fostering a culture of health and wellness within the community. This position is instrumental in developing and implementing wellness programs that empower individuals to lead healthier lives. You will work closely with members to provide guidance, support, and resources tailored to their unique needs. Responsibilities 1. Ensures all Wellness Center programs and services meet community needs. 2. Ensures all floor staff maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications 3. Ensuring floor staff have knowledge of equipment and programs. 4. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support. 5. Assists in recruiting, hiring and training diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Assists in onboarding and developing them for success. 6. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within the Health & Wellness Department. 7. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. 8. Manages all aspects of Wellness Center program including but not limited to Fitness Foundations, Lose-It!, Expresso Challenge, Free Motion Orientations, etc. 9. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred. One to two years related experience preferred. Minimum age of 21. N ational certification in group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA group exercise instructor certification required. Certification in area of expertise required. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
