POSITION SUMMARY

: Implementation ofwellness programming and delivery of wellness classes according tothe specific needs / programs of the campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

:

Maintains HIPAA standards and regards all medical or healthcareinformation pertaining to residents and employees as confidential.

Implements standards of exercise, wellness and senior health on thecampus while operating the wellness components in accordance withthe established policies and procedures of the governing body incompliance with federal, state and local regulations. Designs andleads fitness based classes specific to the campus population.

Instructs classes or routines based on the determined level, healthand mobility of the resident in order for the resident to gain inphysical / mental health or to maintain current physical or mentalstatus. Ensures the safety and proper progression of residentsparticipating in all responsible classes. Maintains dailyattendance records for all classes and progression of residentsparticipating in the classes instructed. Reports this data to theWellness Coordinator. Coordinates wellness and exerciseopportunities with community agencies, physicians, families,residents, consultants, and other departments within the campus, ifneeded. Educates fitness participants as to self-protection frominfectious diseases and promotes other safety precautions.

Communicates with the Wellness Coordinator, Administrator, otherstaff, or health care professionals any changes in residentconditions or abnormal behavior. Assists residents in transferringor ambulating as necessary to participate in wellness classes.

Participates in and attends all in-service training and educationprograms as scheduled. Other duties as assigned.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, andExpected Hours of Work:

The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Thisposition is very active and requires frequent standing, walking,bending, kneeling, stooping and climbing. This position will berequired to lift or carry weight up to 50 lbs. and ability to pushup to 250 pounds independently. The individual must use proper bodymechanics to assist residents in their daily living. This positionregularly requires long hours and frequent night and weekend work.

TRAVEL:

No travel is expected, although occasional travel may berequired for training sessions, continuing education opportunities,emergency situations, and other company functions.

EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Group Exercise Certification required.
  • Certifications from ACSM,ACE, AEA, or AFAA desired.
  • Certification in CPR required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Ability to read, write,speak and understand English fluently. Ability to meet or exceedthe company’s attendance and punctuality standards. Ability to useElectronic Records and miscellaneous software and office equipment.

Ability to understand and follow directions as given. Ability towork with minimal supervision.
