Prevent Educator will become familiar with current Prevention needs within the community by collaborating with community partners, researching and collecting data on current substance mis-use trends, and by utilizing evidence-based curriculums on prevention. The Prevent Program exists to educate individuals on mental health and substance abuse prevention. Its mission is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to make informed, healthy decisions and reduce risk factors associated with mental illness and addiction. Prevention Educator will provide culturally appropriate and evidence-based education to the community in the form of educational programs presented in a group setting. Groups will relate to the topics of drug prevention, mental health, life skills, problem solving, coping techniques, healthy coping outlets, and other topics that are deemed needed within the community for the target population. Prevent Educator will facilitate groups throughout the county, collaborating with various community partners, such as schools and community centers.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for collaborating with community partners to form Prevent groups throughout the county. Researching current trends in substance use and mental health prevention, and developing lessons to present to groups. Working collaboratively with your team to implement evidence-based Prevention curriculums Build and foster meaningful connections with community partners Maintain accurate records and documentation of all engagements and activities Turn in all paperwork and documentation in a timely manner Facilitate 10 groups per week Be able to effectively engage group participants and deliver prevention education to the community Have the ability to work with diverse populations, including children, teens, and adults. Create and develop fun and engaging activities to accompany the educational lesson you are presenting at group Attend regular team meetings, provide updates on groups, and foster a positive team environment.
