Job Description:

• -Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for aDiabetes Educator to join our team at one of our Maternal FetalMedicine clinics in Boca Raton.
• At Pediatrix, we are passionateabout giving high-risk expectant mothers and their babies the carethey deserve. The Diabetes Educator is responsible for the nutritional care andeducation of patients referred for diabetic management.
• Provides nutritional care topatientsAssess patient nutritional needs.

Complete referral datacollection, interview, history form, prioritize needsInterprets,negotiates, calculates, and executes MD orders for modifieddiets.

Develops and implements nutrition care plans.

Provides writtenand oral education to patients and families as ordered by an MD forinsulin initiation, meter instruction and oral agentinstruction.

Records and documents appropriate information inmedical records. Processes and records patient charges forservices.

Evaluates patient skills and cognitive understanding byobservation, discussion, study guides and follow-up calls asindicated.

Develops, reviews and revises patient instructionalmaterial.

Provides up to date to the community.

Responds to phonecalls from the community.

Communicates with other departments anddisciplines within the practice.

Provides for own professionalgrowth and development.

Attends CME programs on diabetes, prenatalnutrition, or other related topics.

Maintains diabetes acumen byregular review of publications, research studies, and literaturesearches.

Participates in local diabetes education meetings.

Updatesstatistical data on diabetic patients monthly or as requested. Registered Dietician, LicensedDietician, or Certified Diabetic Educator license required

• Education Level:

  Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college oruniversity

• Experience Years:

  1-2

• Experience Industry:

  3-5
