We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Officer – Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development, review, and dissemination of public health communication materials. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience as a public health advisor, health communication specialist, health educator, or public health analyst, preferably within a government or public health setting. This role requires excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage priorities in dynamic or emergency environments. Requires NACI Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities Include:

Serve as a subject matter expert in public health to support communication strategies and materials development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to draft, review, and edit culturally competent, evidence-based health communication materials across various media formats.
Provide scientific and clinical guidance to ensure public health messages are accurate, up-to-date, and relevant to intended audiences.
Assist in identifying content gaps and recommending new or revised materials to address emerging health issues.
Contribute to digital communication initiatives including social media, web content, and email campaigns.
Participate in strategy briefings and planning meetings to articulate content needs, communication goals, and target audiences.
Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) to create reports, presentations, and internal correspondence.
Maintain strong attention to detail through proofreading and quality assurance of materials before publication or release.
Support rapid response efforts during public health emergencies, multitasking effectively under pressure.
Foster strong interpersonal communication with team members and partners via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned Medical Officer – Subject Matter Expert (SME) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or related discipline; or Master’s degree with 10+ years of highly relevant laboratory experience.
10+ years of laboratory experience, including advanced molecular virology and respiratory pathogen detection.
Proficiency in real-time PCR, RT-PCR, multiplex assays, and related molecular diagnostics.
Demonstrated expertise in laboratory validation, QA/QC practices, and audit readiness.
Familiarity with laboratory standards and regulations including CLIA, CAP, CMS, and biosafety level (BSL) guidelines.
Strong scientific writing skills with experience contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain meticulous laboratory records.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a CDC, public health, or academic research lab setting.
Prior involvement in outbreak response or emergency preparedness.
Experience with LIMS, molecular assay automation, and diagnostic data systems.
Track record of scientific contributions through national/international presentations and publications.
