Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay:

$35.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 225 N McDowell St, Raleigh, NC 27603. This position will serve as the Avian and Novel Influenza Health Educator in the Medical Consultation Unit of the Communicable Disease Branch. This position will develop and disseminate outreach and educational resources to prevent novel influenza including influenza A(H5N1) and other viral respiratory diseases with pandemic potential.?This position will provide full-time support for all health education needs of the Respiratory Program. Experience in developing health education and outreach materials for different audiences Basic working knowledge of communicable diseases prevention Effective oral and written communication and ability to tailor communication to a level appropriate for the target audience. Ability to work effectively with people on all educational levels and to maintain effective working relationships with local health departments, partner agencies, provider groups and the public.

Management Preferences:

Spanish fluency; Experience in outreach with farmworkers, livestock workers, or other agricultural fields; Prior similar role in a public health or agricultural agency.
