Founded in 1918, the Urban League of Westchester spearheads its efforts by developing various programs to deliver innovative services and maintain strong advocacy to drive social and economic change. Position Overview Our Health Services program is committed to improving the health and well-being of underserved populations by providing comprehensive harm reduction services, education, and support. By addressing critical challenges such as substance use, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and overdose prevention, we create a meaningful impact in the community. We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Health Educator to join our Health Services team. In this pivotal role, you will engage directly with individuals who use substances, inject drugs, or are living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C. You will deliver personalized harm reduction strategies, connect clients to essential care and services, and promote safer and healthier practices.
Core Responsibilities:
Recruit, enroll, and engage individuals to provide harm reduction services. Conduct assessments and develop personalized harm reduction strategies, including overdose prevention and safer sex practices. Facilitate referrals to substance use treatment, healthcare, and other supportive services. Lead overdose prevention training sessions, distribute Narcan, and document incidents of overdose and reversal. Track client feedback to ensure referred agencies provide effective, respectful care. Maintain accurate client data in the AIRS System for reporting purposes. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred, with at least two years of experience in harm reduction, substance use, or HIV/AIDS-related services. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities. Reliable transportation with the ability to travel up to 30%. Bilingual preferred.
