Job Highlights :

Being a patient care technician (PCT) at UAB Medicine is the perfect way to gain hands-on experience. This role assumes responsibility for certain technical aspects of inpatient care, as directed by the RN or LPN on the unit, and they work side by side with bedside nurses as part of a care team. PCT responsibilities on this unit can include: ensuring that rooms have adequate patient care supplies, retrieving equipment and setting up sterile trays, notifying nursing staff of any issues or concerns, keeping patient rooms clean and sanitized, and assisting the unit secretary with administrative duties, which can involve taking calls to respond to neonatal emergencies and codes. UAB Medicine’s Level IV Regional Newborn ICU (RNICU) is the largest unit in the hospital and provides the highest and most comprehensive level of care to the tiniest and sickest babies in the region. Job Description :

To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital. To obtain and record vitals, weight, inputs and outputs. To successfully complete an in-house PCT training program. To demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within thirty (30) days of date of employment required. CPR certified within 30 days of employment.
