46 We’re seeking a Emergency Department Technician for Emory MidtownHospital responsible for being a capable certified technician whocares about the quality of their work an ensuring the safety forall patients.
This individual will:
- Ensures general patient satisfaction, including but not limitedto providing blankets, food, and updates on treatment status.
Focuses education of their daily clinical situation and adherenceto Standards of Care. Performs peripheral IV placement, specimencollection, general phlebotomy and blood cultures, and placement ofurinary catherers.
- Ensures that all procedures are properly documented. Responsiblefor the placement of all varieties of simple orthoglass splints andall forms of pre-made splints, such as knee immobilizers andslings.
- Performs general wound care, bandaging, and wound irrigation. Eyeirrigation with both directly applied normal saline and Morganlens. Takes vital signs. Performs accuchecks. Transports patientsto and from diagnostic tests as well as to floor beds.
- Assists in acute and code situations. Is familiar with allaspects of emergency situations and works with MD and RN to supportcare of the patient.
- Familiar with and able to function as a member of the Code Bluedisaster team. Works as a team member in triaging, staging andtreating disaster patients Assists in the care of acute patientsand is competent in: defibrillating pts with an AED, suctioningpts, placing pts on monitors and defibrillators.
- Performing EKGs and other POC testing. Sorts through initialcomplaints of patients in the waiting room. Assist with patientflow when ER becomes crowded. Notifies the RN or Physician ofpossibly critical patients.
- Explains delays in treatment to patients in waiting area.
Collaborates with other staff in delivering patient care. Interactswith and establishes professional relationships with members of thepatient care team.
- Oversees obtaining equipment and conducts needs analysis toincrease supplies based on ED volume. Monitors stock and suppliesto ensure par levels are maintained. Complies with StandardPrecautions guidelines and all other Infection Control proceduresand safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthywork environment.
- Performs clerical duties when required, to include answeringphones and directing all inquiries from other physicians,departments, and pharmacies.
Ensuring that physician orders are putcorrectly into the computer. Facilitating the acqusition ofdiagnostic studies as appropriate. May be required to obtainmedical records from other hospitals. Performs other duties asrequired.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited EMT-Advanced or EMT-Intermediatetraining program.
- One year related experience preferred.
- Previous ED experience preferred.
- Must have current certification as an EMT-I, EMT-A, or EMT-P, and
