The role you’ll contribute:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Document’s observations, interactions, patient responses to performed activities, and any physical or behavioral changes at time of occurrence. Report’s observations of individual patients to the RN/Team Leader.
Assists with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assists with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfer’s patients to and from other units, departments, or entities. Assists with discharges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
Provides or assists with non-medicated support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, and venous compression devices.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Knowledge and skills equivalent to a nursing student in the second year of study, Paramedic or EMT with a valid Georgia license.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with regulatory agencies as they relate to responsibilities, department and Gordon Hospital (ie. corporate compliance, OSHA, HIPAA, TJC, EMTALA, and HFAP)
  • Consults with and/or advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring attention or follow up.
  • Computer skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED
  • Above-mentioned knowledge and skills and a minimum 1 year previous relevant experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED
  • Year one nursing student or CNA certification
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card
