SUMMARY:
The RadiologicTechnologist (Rad Tech) is responsible for performing diagnosticimaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment ofpatients. This role involves operating X-ray and other imagingequipment, ensuring patient safety, and producing high-qualityimages for physician review. The ideal candidate isdetail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to deliveringexceptional patient care while adhering to safety protocols andprofessional standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reads charts,prescriptions and radiology requests to ascertain the existence ofvalid physician orders for diagnostic x-ray procedures.
- Obtainspertinent clinical information and follows special physicianrequests noted on prescriptions and radiology requests.
- Preparescontrast media according to physician’s order or departmentalpolicy.
- Assures proper patient identify prior to performing anx-ray procedure.
- Questions female patients of child bearing ageregarding the possibility of being pregnant prior to performing anx-ray procedure.
- Reports positive or questionable responses tothe radiologist or referring physician for additional guidanceprior to proceeding any further.
- Performs diagnostic x-rayprocedures not involving fluoroscopy.
- Assists physicians duringfluoroscopic and invasive radiology procedures.
- Functions in theoperating room to provide diagnostic x-ray coverage.
- Lifts andmoves patients with assistance.
- Operates all stationary andmobile x-ray equipment available to the Medical Imaging department
- Notifies supervisor of equipment deficiencies.
- Develops x-raysand assists in maintaining processing equipment by assuring thatchemical solutions are kept at prescribed levels.
- Maintainsassigned x-ray room.
- Assures that the assigned room is stockedaccording to prescribed levels with necessary supplies
- Assists,as needed, or as patient care demands, in the operation of thex-ray file room.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of its operation
- Labels all studies correctly ?
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
RequiredDegree:
- Graduate from an AMA approved program in
RadiologicalTechnology Required Certification/Licensure:
- Current New YorkState licensure or permit to practice as a RadiologicalTechnologist
- New York State Department of Health Licensure andRegistered with ARRT
- BLS within 3 months of hire.
- Requiresability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient,quality patient care.
- Requires good reading and deductive skillsin order to interpret physician requests and effectively solveproblems.
- Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonalskills to deal with apprehensive patients in a professional andcompassionate manner.
- Requires positive and effectivecommunication skills for interaction with physicians and staff inemotionally charged situations ?

96 The listed base payrange is a good faith representation of current potential base payfor a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in thefuture and eligible for additional pay components.
