MRI Technologist Duke Regional Hospital ThisPosition is Eligible for Relocation and $15,000 Commitment BonusGeneral Description of the Job Class Perform a variety of complex,specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation ofhigh field strength magnets. Duties and Responsibilities of thisLevel

  • Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedureperformance.
  • Assist radiologist with procedure protocoling andperformance. Start I.V.s, administer contrast media as directed andper protocol.
  • Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collateprocessed images and sequence of acquisition and labelappropriately.
  • Schedule patients for procedures; assist withclerical functions.
  • Charge MR procedures and supplies in EHR
  • Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide orientation for newtechnologists
  • Provide education and training for studenttechnologists.
  • Provide for the psychological and physical needsof patients for MR procedures.
  • Understand and use the ImageArchival System
  • Perform complex tasks associated with theoperation of high field strength magnets and related equipment toproduce special radiographic images of specific body parts.
  • Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protectiveequipment as required.
  • Screen patients for MR safety prior toprocedure performance.
  • Assist radiologist with procedureperformance. Administer contrast media or as directed and perprotocol. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collateprocessed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow involving multiple MRsites.
  • Assist with education and training of new physicians(interns, residents, and fellows, attending’s) if Applicable.
  • Assist radiologists and physicists in developing new protocols andMR imaging techniques that are unique to DUHS
  • Help facilitateresearch for the Duke Health System by scanning and using protocolsgiven. Demonstrate proficiency in the 100 MR protocols in theHealth System. Teach the correct application of these protocols tonew technologists, physicians, and researchers.
  • Perform otherrelated duties incidental to the work herein DUHS offers careergrowth and enrichment within Imaging services. There is a clinicalladder program with various steps and opportunities at eachhospital within the health system. Required Qualifications at thisLevel Education
  • Graduate or completion of program that meetseligibility requirements for registry/certification or currentlyholds required registry or certification. Experience
  • Level I mustobtain ARRT or ARMRIT in Magnetic Resonance (MR) certificationwithin 18 months of employment.
  • Level II Minimum of two years’experience as an MRI technologist.
  • Level III A minimum of 4years’ experience within specialty modality in which they areseeking promotion. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • Certification in one of the following required: Radiography (R),Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT,ARDMS, or registry eligible for Magnetic Resonance (MR).
  • ARRT orARMRIT registered in Magnetic Resonance (MR) required within 18months of employment.
