HCT II/EMT

position. This position works within the Transportation Department at Murdoch Developmental Center. This position functions as provider of medical care and transport to various hospitals and medical facilities for appointments and procedures. Additional responsibilities include transporting patients on campus to Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic, Laboratory, X-ray, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. This position also provides medical care and transport on Murdoch Developmental Center’s ambulance for emergent and non-emergent off-campus medical care. The position must be EMT certified. When on off-campus medical trips, this position assists medical staff with patient behavior management and assists with compliance with examinations. Medical providers are not always experienced in caring for patients with IDD and this position assists in making the resident more comfortable and at ease while relating to the provider any special needs. When transporting residents for medical purposes, this position serves as liaison between the medical staff of Murdoch Developmental Center and the facility in which the resident is to receive care. This position is responsible for assisting people that live at Murdoch Developmental Center into vehicles (ambulatory, non-ambulatory, wheelchairs, and stretchers) and transporting to scheduled destinations. Other routine duties include picking up medicine boxes, pharmacy requisitions, charts, lab specimens, and x-rays from campus buildings. This position has responsibilities of the cleaning and maintenance of all official EMS vehicles (i.e. our ambulances) and maintaining data as required by the Office of Emergency Management Services. This position ensures compliance of written operational protocols involving the equipment and supplies of the Ambulances. This position monitors expiration dates for supplies and medication and proactively replenishes. This position will additionally function as the informal Preceptor for the EMT’s. Position will assure that new hires are trained on operation of equipment and that training records and opportunities are provided. This position will serve as backup to the supervisor position within the department providing guidance, scheduling and other support as needed. Position will provide backup support for Motor Fleet vehicle program or other duties and tasks as assigned by management. The normal working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., some flexibility required to meet center’s needs. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.

Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II listing is NOT required for this position.
