The primary purpose of the position is to assist in planning and implementing specific training programs, orientation of new and existing staff and certification of employees in CPI and CPR as indicated. The position serves as a role model for other HCT’s and is vital in providing staff on all three shifts with information and skills needed to perform assigned duties. The role is accomplished under the supervision of the Nursing Education Director/designee.

He / She

assists the Nurse Supervisors concerning HCT performance and training needs. This position requires working with psychiatric patients including those presenting aggressive behavior.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Knowledge of fundamental education and training approaches for Adult Learners.
  • Knowledge of Certified Nursing Assistant regulatory standards, and personnel policies.
  • Ability to work within general policies and procedures.
  • Be able to interact with patient involving behavioral, physical, and medical interventions. (within scope)
  • Ability to communicate educational and training needs of assigned staff.
  • Perform as an instructor of CPI with advanced physical skills, and CPR (when required).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of closely related work experience. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
