Job Summary and Qualifications
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.
What you will do in this role:
I.

Position Summary:

Performs delegated patient care tasks and clerical unit duties. These include but are not limited to:
1. Transporting patients
2. Maintaining cleanliness of equipment
3. Providing patient registration support
4. Scheduling of patient follow-up appointments, consults, and testing
5. Obtaining precertifications for radiology testing
6. Ordering and stocking supplies
7. Running errands, transporting supplies, lab specimens and oncology drugs
8. Entering orders in the Meditech system
9. Phlebotomy
10. Performing VS, heights and weights
What qualifications you will need:

Required:

Employees to possess a LNA certification or a current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification at the Basic or Intermediate level, or AAMA Certified Medical Assistant.

Education:
Preferred:

Completion of an accredited EMT (Basic or Intermediate) program, or LNA program, or MA program respectively. Employees will receive competency training on site for new skill sets.

Experience:

Recent EMT, LNA, or MA experience preferred.

Special qualifications:

BLS certification
