Job Summary:

Reports to the Medical Department Manager and EMS Coordinator. EMT’s are assigned to all events as well as the day to day operation. EMT’s respond to medical emergencies on the Monmouth Park property. EMT’s assess the situation and deliver quick and effective medical intervention to the sick and injured, while maintaining the patient’s privacy and control of the situation. They transport the patient to the medical department on site or to a local emergency department or occupational medical center as needed. Essential Duties.

Physical Demands & Job Responsibilities:

• Provide immediate medical care for the sick or injured.
• Deliver immediate medical attention by assessing the nature of patient’s condition and determine the patient’s pre-existing medical condition.
• Transport the sick and injured to a medical facility.
• Monitor the patients’ vital signs and give additional care as needed.
• Help transfer patient to the emergency department; report observations and action taken to emergency room staff, provide additional emergency treatment
• Remain with patient until evaluated by medical facility staff.
• Document the incident by filing Emergency Treatment Reports on all patients.
• Replenish used supplies and check equipment.
• Clean and decontaminate inside of ambulance and Medical Equipment (when needed).
• Be able to lift, an average size adult,180 pounds or heavier, carry them up and down stairs with a partner on a reeves stretcher, stair chair, long board, etc.
• Be able to maneuver and lift equipment alone while dealing with patients, i.e. stretcher into ambulance, one-man stair chair up and down stairs, push patient in wheelchair while carrying a response bag, etc.
• Excellent hearing and eye-sight.

Certification and Licenses Required:

• High School diploma.
• Current New Jersey Driver’s License at time of hire and for the duration of employment with Darby Development..
• New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification, NR EMT
• AHA Provider CPR Certification, current and maintained throughout employment at Darby Development.
• HazMat Awareness Level 1

• Stop the Bleed Training.

Qualifications:

• Must have a minimum of 1 year EMS experience on a paid EMS Service or Volunteer Ambulance Service. (Invalid Coach/Transport Services does not count towards EMS street experience.
• Experience in an emergency room and ambulance preferred.
• Emotional stability, good dexterity, agility and physical Coordination.
• Experience using various emergency skills (managing respiratory, trauma and cardiac emergencies).
• Excellent writing skills a must.
