$15.00 -$22.50 Job Summary The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basicpatient care services and supports activities within ambulatoryservices. Patient Care Technicians are multi-skilled to provideexpanded services under the direct supervision of a licensedclinical professional. Responsibilities include but are not limitedto: height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, color visionscreening, drug screens, point of care urinalysis andreception/clerical tasks. Patient Care Technicians have knowledgeof and utilize appropriate age-related patient care and culturaldiversity, relating to the physical and psychological needs ofpatients from adolescence through geriatrics. Prepare patienttreatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment;dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards andpolicy. Clean and maintain patient care area(s) or treatment rooms.
Monitors stock levels of medical inventory and restocks or reordersas needed. Work patient registries and identify opportunities toimprove patient care. Must be self-motivated, independent and ableto work well with team members. Must be able to work amidstmultiple distractions while maintaining excellent interpersonalskills. Qualifications High school graduate or general equivalencydiploma (GED) preferred, but not required. Minimum of six months’experience preferred. Experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology,and medical equipment/supplies preferred. Certified NursingAssistant (CNA) preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintainsrequired department specific competencies and certifications. BasicLife Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within thefirst 60 days of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND) andnot a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a NursingAssistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health withinfour months from the date of initial employment.
