Job Description
PRN (As Needed) Varied Day/Evening/Night Shifts Weekend and holiday rotation General Summary Responds to EMS calls and performs a variety of functions related to the care and treatment of patients suffering from urgent and emergent disease and/or injury states in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols. according to
PA DOH EMS
Act and scope of practice.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions:
Responds to EMS calls whether emergency or routine transport, observes safety policies and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others. Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment. Prepares, hangs, monitors, and discontinues I.V. fluids. Responds to emergency non-emergency calls as an Advanced Life Support Provider when appropriate, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) EMS protocols.

Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and “error proof” systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Participates in educational programs and in service meetings. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Qualifications Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience:
1 year In busy 911 system.
Required Licenses:
Certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Upon Hire Required and Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and Certified EMS Vehicle Operator Upon Hire Required Driver’s License Statement:
Must possess a valid driver’s license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
Courses and Training:
Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course (EVOC); National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 – Hazardous Materials Awareness.
