THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION

The Hamilton County Health Department has a responsibility to respond quickly and efficiently when public health emergencies occur. All Hamilton County Health Department employees are responsible for ensuring their contact information is current and they are accessible should a public health emergency arise. The Hamilton County Health Department maintains a call down system to store contact information and mobilize staff in the event of an emergency. During a public health emergency, all staff are required to respond should a call to mobilize be made. During a public health emergency, work hours for any and all Hamilton County Health Department employees are subject to modification to meet the needs of the community. Under direct supervision, performs breastfeeding peer counseling by providing basic breastfeeding information and support to WIC prenatal and breastfeeding mothers in the clinic, hospital, or home setting.

ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.) Minimum Qualifications The equivalent of a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license. Must be an experienced breastfeeding mother who has breastfed for a minimum of 1 year.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

: Must successfully complete breastfeeding peer counseling training program within one (1) year of date of hire. Work may involve making presentations and home visits. Work involves use of personal vehicle when making presentations and home visits.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A current or previous WIC client is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

: Work requires a minimum to moderate amount of physical effort with intermittent typing, sitting, standing, walking, and driving. Work requires the assembly and take down of equipment used at home visits and when making presentations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
