POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, implements, and evaluates surgical patientcare in a timely and accurate manner to perinatal patients.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education /
Training:
High schoolgraduate or equivalent. Must respond to the hospital within 1 hourfor “on call” requirements. Previous scrub tech experience orgraduate of scrub tech school Scrub tech certification required BLSwithin 90 days of hire

The ability to work well underpressure, to function dependently and independently and to beflexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety ofsetting. Equipment for the following surgical specialties: general,AEM; genitourinary, lithotripsy;ophthalmologic/Phacoemulsification/I&A; plastic;orthopedic/Andrews table/total joint replacement/Captain’s Chair/spinal fixation cases; ENT; obstetric/gynecologic; vascular; oral;Amsco Flash Autoclave; Network computer system, Omnicell MedicationSystem, AT&T Language Line.
Physical Environment:
A surgicalunit with patient population ranging from less than one year ofage> ninety-nine plus years of age.
Physical Effort:
Requiresthe ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours aday. Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance upto 250 lbs.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Collaborates with labor anddelivery surgical team members to effectively coordinate thedelivery of patient care in a timely manner. Anticipates andprovides equipment and supplies in a timely manner and organizedmanner based on the needs of the patient and surgeon. Creates andmaintains a sterile field by using principles of aseptic practicein varying situations, initiates corrective action when break intechnique occurs, communicates/documents maintenance of sterilefield. Handles/ transports/ prepares medications/ solutions safelyand in accordance with hospital and departmental policies andprocedures. Performs counts by following established policy andprocedures, initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect,and communicates results of counts. Assists with control of the ORSuite and labor and delivery environment (temperature, humidity,and sensory) maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to ORsanitation policies. Return equipment and supplies to proper placeand prepare OR room for next case. Demonstrates responsibility forcost containment using supplies judiciously and documents patientcharges completely and accurately. Maintain position specificqualification Facilitates staff development, assists with theorientation and training of new personnel, and participates in thedevelopment of educational program for co-workers. Demonstratesresponsibility for assigned communication. Returns promptly frombreaks and gives breaks as needed. Completes special assignmentsand unit duties. Maintains personal appearance in a way thatreflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients,visitors, and co-workers the importance we place on cleanliness,orderliness and safety.
