Our mission is to enhance the health and well-being of our patients, particularly those living with HIV, through a wide range of services including mental health support, case management, and substance abuse treatment. Summary As the Director of Behavioral Health at Thrive Alabama, you will lead our mental health initiatives and programs aimed at improving the quality of life for our patients. This role is pivotal in shaping our behavioral health services and ensuring that we meet the diverse needs of our community. This position would be responsible for the oversight and day to day activities of the behavioral healthcare services offered by Thrive Alabama to include Psychiatry, mental health counseling and the Den Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Supervise all department staff, including work allocation, training, problem resolution, and annual performance evaluations. 2. Provide clinical supervision of mental health and substance abuse treatment professionals, including supervision of individual counseling, group counseling, assessments, treatment planning, peer reviews and intensive outpatient substance abuse services. 3. Ensure compliance with all requirements to maintain certification of Level II.1 Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. 4. Oversee continuous quality improvement activities for the Behavioral Health department, including patient satisfaction, chart auditing, performance standards and overall compliance. 5. Oversee the implementation of the Integrated Behavioral Health program in adult primary and pediatric care. 6. In collaboration with the COO and CFO, set and monitor productivity standards. 7. Assure that appropriate protocols and policies are established and implemented in mental health and substance abuse services and monitor ongoing compliance, including incident reporting to Alabama Department of Mental Health. 8. Oversee substance abuse program activities to include admission, temporary services (when appropriate), referrals, discharge, and notifications for clients. 9. Ensure that appropriate staff members are trained to conduct screenings, assessments, treatment plans and individual and group counseling for mental health and substance abuse treatment. 10. Oversee departmental grant funding and compliance, including proposal writing, budget management, grant-related reports, and data analysis of grant-related outcomes. 11. Track, plan and manage departmental budget in conjunction with CFO and COO. 12. Oversee staff compliance in EMR to include timely documentation, chart locking, referral tracking, schedules and patient communications. 13. Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure quality client care. 14. Complete monthly and/or other requested reports in a timely manner. 15. Ensure the services provided by Thrive Alabama adhere to all State and Federal standards and regulations. 16. Conduct department and program staff meetings. 17. Supervise and/or provide crisis intervention services to clients when needed. 18. Assist in securing additional sources of funding. 19. All other duties, as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the concepts and principles of mental health and substance abuse treatment, including knowledge of mental disorders, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders and trauma recovery. Knowledge of the concepts and principles of administration and management in behavioral healthcare. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong desire to work with diverse populations Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of HIPAA laws. Ability to supervise and educate staff. Ability to effectively communicate and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients and community stakeholders. Effective written and verbal skills. Software Access Microsoft Office eClinical Works Minimum Qualifications Must have a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other behavioral health field be licensed as one of the following: professional counselor, certified social worker, marriage and family therapist, or clinical psychologist. Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification preferred or qualified to obtain certification within 6 months of hire Maintain LCSW and PIP licenses in accordance with Alabama law and CEU requirements Must have a minimum of five (5) years post master’s relevant clinical experience. Must have three (3) years supervisory experience.
