Job Summary/Basic Function:
This role is responsible for coordinating and strictly monitoring the current U.S. medical educational mandates, affiliate institutional experiences, and the academic completion of all Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) requirements for receiving a Doctor of Medicine degree from the BSOM. All M4 year and visiting students (both from the BSOM and all medical students visiting from any U.S. medical school) will receive their clinical assignments through this individual. This individual is responsible for communicating current academic advancement policies and procedures to medical students, clinical clerkship directors, department chairs, affiliate clinical institution administrators and any BSOM personnel involved in the medical student educational process. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience OR Associate’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience OR high school/GED with 7 years of relevant experience
Experience should include working in the field of medical education, curriculum, higher education, clinical/healthcare, or other related work with a high level of coordination.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with groups of hospital, institutional, and/or university administrators or comparable stakeholders.
Extensive experience managing multiple details and ability to work independently.
Experienced in writing policy and procedures; editing written materials prior to publication; skill in using basic office equipment and computer technologies. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Apple computer and operating systems. Essential Functions and percent of time: 70% Medical Student Assignments
Negotiate with multiple clinical sites within the Dayton and Columbus region to schedule all medical student clinical experiences.
Implement, coordinate and monitor all medical student clerkships, externships, visiting student applications, and electives.
Insure that all policies, procedures and institutional regulations regarding the educational experience of our students are fulfilled and documented as required for graduation. 25% Departmental Liaison
Serve as the central coordinator for all BSOM clinical departments.
Communicate with clerkship coordinators and department directors to provide a coordinated clinical experience for all of our students.
To include student scheduling, providing necessary verifications, and troubleshooting on behalf of the Office of Student Affairs. 5% Other related duties
Assist with special events such as medical student orientation, graduation, and special events sponsored by the BSOM Office of Student Affairs.
Coordinate schedules for dual degree students (MPH, MBA, PhD) with related graduate program directors.
