Responsibilities:

TheDirector, Radiology & Imaging Services coordinates and manages administrative and clinical activities for the Department of Radiology and Imaging Services for University Hospital; sets goals and objectives, plans, organizes and directs departmental activities during standard business hours as well as during emergencies; fiscally responsible for the departments including facilitation of efficient and cost effective daily operations; coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of staff, unit performance and system operations; prepares and manages the operating budgets of each section, including supplies, personnel and equipment; evaluates the department statistics; supplies technical information and materials and helps prepare application justifications for equipment; coordinates Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities; incorporates the departmental statistics into the Q.A. Committee and Utilization Committee and identifies quality indicators; organizes the In-house equipment maintenance programs to ensure testing procedures are performed and equipment is maintained; reviews and evaluates the operations of the departments and sections with the Medical Directors; performs continuous monitoring of the quality of service given by vendors who have service contracts and warranties with the Hospital; reviews the demand for services and evaluates/assesses the potential expansion of the radiology service; identifies the trends for demand of imaging services; evaluates the technical, clerical and auxiliary staffing requirements necessary to provide quality patient care and to perform services rendered by department in an efficient and productive manner; collaborates with supervisors to develop standards for recruitment, interviewing, development, hiring, and promotions of staff; assists in the coordination of in-service and continuing education programs for staff to ensure quality patient care is rendered; ensures timely completion of the staff competency assessments and performance evaluations; delegates duties and responsibilities to staff; works with Nursing, Business Office, Admitting, Accounting, Information Systems and all departments to ensure a strong departments focused on Customer Satisfaction; develops strategic plans for increasing revenue, acquiring new technology, marketing services, and improving departmental operating systems; advises Administration of developing technologies, regulatory requirements or operational needs relative to the departments; meets with referring physicians to assess services and performance levels are meeting their needs and expectation; establishes departmental policies, procedures and performance standards in conformance with administrative policies and licensing requirements and reviews on an annual basis; coordinates and conducts monthly staff meetings; promotes Outpatient Services to physicians and other healthcare providers; maintains satisfactory working relationship with Medical Directors / staff, referring physicians, administration, directors and hospital department staff, measured by the absence of complaints;regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years radiologic technologist experience or other professional hospital experience, three of which were managerial or supervisory. Radiologic technology experience and ARRT highly preferred.
