Position Summary
The Clinical Lab Coordinator will act as a liaison between faculty, students, and clinical sites as well as managing all aspects of clinical needs within the ATI system. This position will also be responsible for assisting in skill labs as needed by nursing courses. The Clinical Lab Coordinator is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, and/or weekend on any Central Alabama Community College campus as assigned.

THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING FROM THE GRANT.

In accordance with the provisions of the Students First Act, ACT 2011-270, non-probationary status is not attainable by virtue of employment in this position, the funding and duration of which are finite.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, Central Alabama Community College, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
2. Responsible for coordinating, planning, securing, andanizing nursing clinicals including clinical sites and facilities for each nursing course and preceptor assignments.
3. Schedules and ensures clinical facility orientation requirements are met for faculty and students.
4. Maintains records regarding clinical schedules.
5. Conducts clinical site visits as assigned.
6. Submits all required clinical documents for each clinical facility.
7. Maintains andmunicates guidelines regarding facility specific policies pertaining to student nurses.
8. Reviews clinical site evaluations and makes rmendations based on data.
9. Assists with the nursing apprenticeship program and other duties as required.
10. Creates spreadsheets inpliance with clinical facility requirements.
11. Communicates with the clinical coordinators/educators from each clinical site regarding:

  • availability of clinical units;
  • updates in policies and procedures;
  • updates on contact information for clinical unit directors;
  • and ensuring availability for students to perform skills.

12. Coordinates dates available at clinical facilities for Central Alabama Community College nursing program students for each semester. (Requests for clinical units are made annually and as needed for each facility.)
13. Assists with coordination of apprentices in clinicals as needed.
14. Maintains and updates student performance guidelines as specified at each clinical site and keeping full-time nursing faculty informed of changes.
15. Maintains and updates clinical site requirements for the spreadsheets prepared each semester on nursing students, full-time nursing faculty, and nursing adjunct.
16. Assists with updating clinical site guidelines for required health requirements, i.e. wearing of masks and what type of personal protective equipment, approval to care for, or not care for, Covid positive patients, guidelines for taking care of patients in isolation, etc.
17. Schedules student orientations to each clinical facility each semester and maintaining a spreadsheet demonstrating studentpletion of orientation to each facility.
18. Sets up student/faculty orientation and instructions on use of electronic health records at each clinical facility.
19. Responsible for the deactivation and reactivation of electronic health record access as required per facility.
20. Works closely with the Director of Health Programs to assist with the orientation of new cohorts as admitted each semester.
21. Verifies that student immunization records and CPR are current. Coordinating with program administrative assistants in contacting students for whom vaccines must be updated.
22. Serves as a liaison between clinical facilities and the College regarding changes in clinical dates, such as cancellations due to Joint Commission site visits.
23. Remains available to fill in/assist full-time faculty.
24. Keeps informed of current clinical requirements and updates for students performing clinicals at each clinical facility.
25. Attends all faculty meetings, College assemblies, professional development, orientation activities, and other meetings as required by the College.
26. Bes familiar andplying with all College policies and procedures.
27. Serves on and participates on Collegemittees and divisionalmittees as requested.
28. Actively involved in the co-curricular activities of the College.
29. Represents the College in a positive manner both on and off campus.
30. Completes other duties as assigned by the respective supervisor.
31. Meets essential job functions including physical and intellectual abilities in terms of sensory and perception,munication and interpersonal relationships, cognitive and critical thinking, motor function, and professional behaviors.
32. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Health related discipline from a regionally accredited institution is required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
2. An unencumbered Alabama registered nurse license or appropriate multi-state licensure is required.
3. Experience as a registered nurse is required.
4. Documented ability and understanding of the effectiveness and advantages of using technology is required.
5. Evidence of experience providing supervision of nurses or nursing students is required.
6. Experience in an administrative or managerial setting is preferred.
7. Nursing experience in a hospital is preferred.
8. Experience maintaining health records or documentation is preferred.
