Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse Previous School Nursing experience required

Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
JOB GOAL
To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district schools.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
: Recommend priorities on health service programs such as mandated services. Arrange coverage when nurses are out of their building on leave. Assist with the schedule for district-wide BMI, scoliosis and vision screening and other screening as necessary. Facilitate activities with other divisions and outside agencies, including coordinating with local health departments to schedule annual flu clinics. Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services on health related problems pertaining to students, school employees, and parents. Attend workshops and meetings to broaden knowledge and skills in health services. Serve on various committees and task forces promoting health. Review and make recommendations for changes in health services programs as needed for more efficient and higher yield work load. Assist in budget preparation for health services. Train school personnel (designated by the principal) on procedures in compliance with Arkansas State Law and Arkansas Department of Health guidelines for immunizations. Approve the purchase of first aid supplies and equipment for the schools. Attend parent-teacher-counselor conferences on health related problems in the schools as needed. Assist parents in obtaining financial help on screening as needed (such as glasses through recognized organizations such as Brandon Burlsworth Foundation). Serve as a resource person for suspected child abuse cases. Compile annual report of health services activities. Identify, refer, and facilitate efforts to serve students with overt behavior symptoms. Assist the schools in meeting the requirements of having employees certified in CPR and first aid in each school by scheduling and providing first aid courses as needed. Receive and maintain records of accident reports involving students. Perform other duties as needed.

Range 11 – Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($278.00/day – $408.00.day depending on relevant experience)

EVALUATION
: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
