Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant Quality Coordinator will collaborate with and support providers and practice support staff to improve population health performance and achieve quality metrics.

Minimum Education:

High School diploma or GED. Licensure, Registration and/or

Certification:

Certified Medical Assistant, preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum 3 years of medical assistant experience in an ambulatory practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of clinical quality initiatives and requirements for quality measures, including but not limited to MIPS, Primary Care First, and Medicare Advantage. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communications. Demonstrated PC skills. Strong attention to detail and able to multitask. Understanding of healthcare delivery processes in the medical office.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Reviews registries with key office staff to identify care gaps and opportunities for outreach and/or gap closure. Assists the providers and end users with documentation requirements, monitoring deadlines and deliverables to meet various metrics. Facilitates pre-visit planning, pre-gap closure initiatives, referral tracking and closure etc. to improve population health. Performs outreach to patients to close gaps of care. Supports practice providers in the development and implementation of activities to close population health care gaps and achieve quality performance goals. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and initiatives by conducting routine audits of documentation ensuring compliance with protocols and standardized workflows. Identifies areas of improvement and provides recommendations to improve quality.

Decision Making:

Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships:

Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal/external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at director level or above.
