POSITION SUMMARY

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by organizing unit activities, coordinating and relaying information to health care team members, patients and families in an accurate and timely manner.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Quality/No Harm:

Demonstrates accurate order management and communicates vital information to the appropriate staff. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Orders received are initiated in a timely manner. Utilizes Health First computer systems with regards to order management. Maintains Teletracking on the nursing unit with appropriate accurate information. Maintains Patient chart. Demonstrates knowledge of computer downtime procedures and maintains only most current forms Facilitates response to call lights within a timely manner. Demonstrates SuperUser ability with computer software applications. Participates in orientation of associates. Admits, discharges and transfers patients in a timely manner. Demonstrates effective telephone etiquette. Facilitates telephone communication between licensed staff and physicians. May have limited access to authorized medication storage areas as needed to perform assigned duties. Responds to visitor/patient emergencies appropriately according to department/facility standards.

Stewardship:

Demonstrates and/or makes suggestions toward the positive financial performance of the unit. Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically.

Customer Experience:

Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs. Maintains patient’s current demographic information. Coordinates appointments and transportation as needed for patients. Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHP scores for department/medical center and/or written compliments by patients/others as well as consistent performance of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report. Supports the Health First Philosophy. Work Experience

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

High school diploma or equivalent. Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. Previous experience in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Must be able to speak/understand the written and verbal instructions of the English language.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Manual dexterity required for computer work. Visual acuity and hand eye coordination to perform various tasks. Ability to speak and articulate clearly. Ability to work extended hours and vary work assignments and work hours as necessary to perform assigned tasks. Ability to meet additional demands as defined by the department

MENTAL DEMANDS

Must have ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding. Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities. Must have ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations. Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills. Benefits
